One American Politician's Views on Current Conflicts in the World

BeiragNews

In a conversation with Geoff Young, an American antiwar activist who is currently running in the Democratic Party primary for Governor of Kentucky, BeiragNews asked him about current world issues such as the war in Ukraine, the situation in the Middle East, and American policy in the world.

When asked about the wars in which the United States has been involved, Young replied: "All the wars that Washington has started since World War II have only benefited the ruling class, Wall Street, and arms contractors The workingg class, middle class, and poor Americans have never benefited from Washington's illegal and immoral wars of aggression."

Condemning the US war in Afghanistan, he considered it unacceptable to attack it and explained: "Nothing can justify a war of aggression. Immediately after 9/11/2001, the Taliban in Afghanistan offered to hand over Osama bin Laden to a neutral country for a fair trial. The Bush regime rejected their reasonable offer and instead invaded Afghanistan in violation of international law. Twenty years later, the Taliban expelled the NATO occupation forces from Afghanistan. The people of Afghanistan are now in a worse situation than they were 22 years ago."

Referring to the Iraq war, Young considers it the worst act of aggression in the world since the illegal US war against Vietnam. ,

Young said: "The US attack on Iraq in 2003 It was the world's worst act of international aggression since the US invasion of Southeast Asia in the 1960s. It destabilized the entire Middle East, killed at least 1.5 million Iraqis, and earned Washington a reputation as the world's most murderous, aggressive, imperialist, predatory, lawless, and war-crimes-committing government during the post-World War II era.   It only benefited the ruling class, Wall Street, and arms contractors, while not benefiting the American people at all."

Addressing the role of America in Syria since 2011, he said: "The action of America in occupying a third of Syria's territory and stealing Syrian oil and wheat is a heinous war crime."

He says about America's relationship with Israel and its benefits for the American people: "Since 1967, Israel has served as Washington's unsinkable aircraft carrier in the most important oil-producing region of the world, the Middle East. This military alliance mainly benefits the arms lobby and large US-based multinational corporations."

Referring to the use of human rights and democracy rhetoric by the US authorities, Young believes that these phrases are only used to cover up the crimes of the US in illegal aggression and the regime changes they are making in the world.

"'Human rights' and 'promotion of peace and democracy' is cynical phrases used by Washington to cover up its illegal wars of aggression and illegal regime change operations,” Young said. “The US invasion of Iraq in 2003 was a war to control the energy resources of the Middle East. The illegal destruction of Libya by President Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in 2011 was a campaign to destroy Muammar Gaddafi's alternative model for economic development in Libya and possibly all of Africa. When Obama and Clinton moved weapons and Islamist terrorists from Libya to Syria in 2011 to topple an elected government there, they were trying to strengthen imperial control over oil.  Syria's important allies, Russia and Iran, have stopped Washington from overthrowing the elected, legitimate Assad government since 2011.

Referring to the JCPOA, Young called it “an excellent agreement that improved the security of Israel, Iran, the whole region, and the whole world.” He said, “it was the greatest achievement of former President Barack Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry.” Young condemned Trump's action to cancel this agreement. "When President Trump tore it up in 2018 for purely domestic political reasons, he made another war more likely and thereby unwittingly undermined Israel's national security."

Young considers the economic sanctions tool as an illegal war tool and explained,

"Unilateral sanctions are not only a tool of economic war that Washington uses every day against dozens of its enemies, rivals, and 'allies,' but they are all illegal. Only the UN Security Council has the authority to blockade or impose economic sanctions on other countries."

Regarding the cause of the conflict between Iran and the United States, he cited the Islamic Revolution of Iran in 1979 as the main reason. "The king (the Shah of Iran) was a puppet of the United States, and no empire likes to lose any of its puppets."

Young discussed the war in Ukraine and believes the main reason for it is Western imperialism.

"The main reason for the current war is Western imperialism, which is led by Washington. America wants to overthrow the current Russian government by destroying its economy and making the Russian people so poor and miserable that they overthrow Putin. The CIA has been supporting the Nazis in Ukraine since the day the CIA was founded in 1947. NATO should have been disbanded in 1991 or 1992 after the breakup of the old Soviet Union. "Instead, Washington and NATO sent troops around the world that committed aggression and terrorism and killed millions of people."

Regarding Western sanctions against Russia, he considers them a failure and believes that it has the opposite effect.

Young said: "Economic sanctions against Russia have failed and are now having the opposite effect against the working class in Western Europe and North America. I have been saying for 12 months that it is impossible to stop a resource-rich country like Russia from selling its valuable natural resources on the world market."

Young evaluates the battlefield situation in Russia's favor and considers Russia's goals of the war to demilitarize and de-Nazify Ukraine. He said, "Russia is winning the war on the battlefield and the Russian government will decide when the war will end. Russia's goals have always been to demilitarize Ukraine and de-Nazify it politically. The defeat of the NATO-Ukraine military is almost complete, but the process of de-Nazification will take longer."

In response to the question of what is the way to end the war, he said: "The fastest and least bloody way to end the war is for all countries to stop sending weapons to Ukraine and for Ukraine to surrender unconditionally to Russia. Washington and NATO must recognize the fact that they have decisively lost their proxy war against Russia and that surrender is the only rational and moral option left to them."

Young describes the strategy of sending weapons to Ukraine as tension-generating and evil, and says about it: "It is an evil and vengeful strategy aimed at maximizing the number of Russian soldiers and civilians killed. However, the casualty ratio is that for every Russian casualty, there are roughly eight Ukrainian casualties."

In response to whether Nord Stream was an accident or sabotage, he said, "It was sabotage by the United States and Norway."

Young describes the goals of the parties in the war in Ukraine as follows: "President Putin, the entire Russian government, and the vast majority of the Russian people want to defeat the NATO-Ukrainian army and de-nazify Ukraine. Washington wants to damage the Russian economy so much that the Russian people overthrow Putin. NATO is under Washington's control and its stupid leaders don't dare to end the war by withdrawing from NATO and ordering all US troops out of their countries."

He describes the impact of the Ukraine war on the global economy as an economic “divorce” between the West and the rest of the world.

Young explained: "Washington's desperate attempt to remain as the world's top superpower has divided the world economy into two parts. The United States, Canada, Western Europe, Japan, and Australia have isolated themselves and will all soon experience another Great Depression, while the rest of the world will join the Belt and Road Initiative, which will help their economies grow.”

In response to the question of China's role in this war, Young answered: "China has played a very positive role by integrating its military and economy with Russia and resisting all the clumsy attempts of Washington to separate them."

He further points to Iran's role and says: "Iran's role has also been positive because it has resisted Washington's attacks in this war against Russia, and also Washington's and Israel's attacks against Syria.

About the Ukraine war's economic impact on Europe, Young said, "I consider the war in Ukraine to be an attempt by Washington to destroy Germany's production base by cutting off Russia's cheap energy. Until now, Germany has foolishly allowed its economy to be attacked and seriously damaged by the United States.

Young considers Washington and the Biden Administration to be incapable of solving this war. He further explains: "I have never seen a US government or regime as incompetent as the neoconservatives who make up the foreign policy team of Joe Biden, their puppet.". "The only thing Washington seems to know how to do is to double down on policies like sanctions that have failed so many times in the past."

Young considers Israel a military ally of the West and believes that it will be with Washington unless the American economy and empire collapse.

He explains: "Israel and its influential lobby in Washington mainly act as a military ally of Washington, but its government may be flexible enough to abandon its alliance with the United States after our economy collapses. If the empire collapses, the entire world will probably force Israel to implement a two-state solution and provide some measure of justice for the Palestinian people."

Regarding the relationship between Iran, Russia, and China, Young said, "China, Iran, and Russia are all key members of the growing Eurasian bloc. I predict that they will continue to increase trade and investment and separate their economies from the Western imperialist countries."

In response to who will win the war in Ukraine, he replied, “Russia.”

Young explained, "Russia has already won, while Ukraine, NATO, and Washington have already decisively lost. However, it will take some time for the American people to realize how badly Washington has failed. Western mainstream media (MSM) companies are nothing but lying propaganda outlets controlled by the military-industrial-'intelligence complex. Small, alternative media organizations and individual bloggers are the best way to find out what's going on in the world."

Young considers the relationship between Iran, Russia, and China vis-à-vis the United States to be strategic and long-term.

He explains: "This is a strategic and long-term relationship. I see it as a divorce between the West, also called the 'Golden Billion,' and the rest of humanity. I don't see any way to reconcile the two blocs in the foreseeable future."

Young describes America's biggest mistake in the Ukraine war as follows: "The United States made its biggest mistake in December 2021, when it rejected Russia's reasonable peace proposal that could have brought Europe closer to a stable peace. The proposed treaty included a pledge never to allow Ukraine to join NATO and to remove all US nuclear missiles from Western Europe. Washington's refusal to negotiate with Russia in December 2021 led directly to Russia's special military operation in February 2022."

In response to why Iran and China sided with Russia in the Ukraine war, Young answered: "Both China and Iran have realized that if Russia loses in Ukraine and is divided into several smaller countries, Washington will try to defeat and . break up China and Iran next.”
